EU Info Points – informative corners designed for citizens and local officials to bring European values, policies, and opportunities for participation in EU programmes closer to communities – are now available in 25 locations across Montenegro.
After the openings in several municipalities during May and June, a new EU Info Point has recently been established within the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro, further strengthening the network and providing an additional hub of support for all local governments in the country.
EU Info Points – a bridge between citizens, local communities, and the European Union
EU Info Points serve as local information centres that contribute to a better understanding of the European integration process, provide information on opportunities offered by EU membership, and help citizens and local institutions recognise the benefits of European programmes and funds.
Through these points, citizens and officials can learn how the European Union impacts their everyday lives – from projects in infrastructure, education, culture, environmental protection, and digitalisation, to support for local development and institutional strengthening.
Beyond providing information, EU Info Points are also spaces for dialogue and the exchange of experiences, where municipalities and citizens can share their views, suggestions, and ideas about Montenegro’s European path. In this way, they connect European policies with the concrete needs of local communities, making the integration process more visible, understandable, and closer to the people.
The “Municipalities for Europe” project – supporting local communities on the European path
The establishment of EU Info Points across Montenegro, including the one within the Union of Municipalities, has been carried out with the support of the project “Municipalities for Europe – Empowering Local Communities in the Process of European Integration of Montenegro”, funded by the European Union and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Administration and the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro.
EU Info Point – where Europe begins
EU Info Points are available in almost all Montenegrin municipalities (more information is available at link), and their operation represents an important step in bringing European values and practices closer to citizens.
In the coming period, the opening of an EU Info Point in Budva is also planned, which will complete the process and extend the network to all Montenegrin municipalities.
This will ensure that every local community has its own place for dialogue, support, and inspiration on Montenegro’s path toward the European Union.
