The Municipality of Zeta, in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, with the support of the project “Municipalities for the EU,”marked Europe Day by organizing the international sports-educational event “Žogarija.”
A warm welcome to the youngest participants was extended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Montenegro, Her Excellency Bernarda Gradišnik, who emphasized that Žogarija, besides being held in Montenegro and Slovenia, takes place in seven other countries, and is an example of an event that promotes healthy living, competitive spirit, and team play.
“The Embassy of Slovenia has collaborated with the organizers of the Žogarija project for ten consecutive years, and we hope this will continue in the future, because sports and spending time playing (and nowadays especially playing without phones) are the foundation of our physical and mental health,” said Gradišnik.
On behalf of the hosts, Mirjana Radulović from the Secretariat for Local Self-Government and Social Affairs of the Municipality of Zeta addressed the attendees, stating that: “Žogarija not only brings competition and play, but also conveys a message of friendship, cooperation, and European values that connect us.”
She thanked the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia for its long-term support of this project, as well as the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, whose support through the “Municipalities for the EU” project once again confirmed the importance of local communities in the process of European integration.
This year’s event brought together students from three primary schools: OŠ “Milan Vukotić” from Golubovci, OŠ “Zarija Kračković” from Mataguž, and OŠ “Vladika Danilo” from Srpska.
Students competed in sports and educational disciplines, demonstrating true team spirit, energy, and the joy of learning together through play.
The title of winner was awarded to Primary School “Milan Vukotić”, whose students excelled in all segments of the competition, showing exceptional dedication, mutual respect, and sportsmanship.
