In Kotor, Europe Day was celebrated in the most beautiful way possible – with a children’s race as part of the Ocean Lava Montenegro triathlon, supported by the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and the project “Municipalities for the EU.”
In the unique setting of the Kotor Riviera, sport, joy, and a family atmosphere came together to celebrate European values in a way that brought smiles and delight to everyone present.

The youngest participants – children up to 12 years old – started first. They ran with full strength, smiles on their faces, and the seriousness of true champions. Excitement and joy were present at every step – the children’s race was not a classic competition, but an opportunity for children to show their sporting spirit and perhaps win their first medal.
The event gained a special charm from the parents, who joined the race after the children. They took to the track with smiles and a competitive spirit, cheered on by applause from the stands.
Especially emotional moments were those when parents ran together with their children, and even babies in strollers were not left out of this family adventure.
All participants were welcomed at the finish line with a medal and a big round of applause – because here, everyone is a winner!

The children’s race in Kotor showed how important it is to nurture a love for sport, unity, and healthy values from an early age, which are also the foundation of the European community.
This joyful event was part of the Europe Month celebrations in Montenegro, and its symbolic and emotional significance was particularly evident in the context of the family and sports atmosphere, which united participants from all over.
The children’s race was an introduction to a major sporting event – the international triathlon Ocean Lava Montenegro, held for the ninth time in Kotor. This prestigious event, organized by the Multisport Academy Mayer, gathers 450 competitors from over 40 countries. Competitors compete over two distances:
- Olympic distance: 1.5 km swimming, 50 km cycling, and 10 km running
- Half distance: 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling, and 21 km running
Ocean Lava Montenegro is much more than a sports competition – it is an event that promotes healthy living, international cooperation, the natural beauty of Montenegro, and unity.

In this spirit, the celebration of Europe Day in Kotor through the children’s race represents a perfect combination of sport, family, and European values.
