Under the slogan “Mobility for All – Intergenerational Equity,” Tivat marked European Mobility Week from September 16 to 22 with a rich and comprehensive seven-day program. The event was organized by the Municipality of Tivat with the support of the EU-funded project “Municipalities for EU – Empowering Local Self-Governments in the EU Integration Process.”
Through a multi-day program tailored for all generations of citizens, Tivat confirmed its commitment to promoting environmentally friendly modes of transport, environmental protection, and strengthening traffic culture.
The week began with a recreational hiking tour to Gornji Stoliv. As part of the ongoing program, primary school students from Tivat participated in an educational-ecological ride on an electric powered boat from the Pine waterfront to Krašići, while Friday was dedicated to coastal preservation through a cleanup action at Župa titled “More Steps for Less Litter.”
Popular sports and recreational activities were organized over the weekend—a roller-skating and scooter event, as well as the traditional “Tivat Bike Ride”—bringing together a large number of children, youth, and recreational enthusiasts. The finale of the program focused on youth traffic safety education. The planned kayaking ride under the slogan “The Sea Moves Us” was postponed to the following weekend due to strong winds.
In addition to physical outdoor activities, citizens had the opportunity throughout the entire week to participate in the digital “Mobility Week Steps Challenge 2026” via the Walk15 app, where their accumulated steps contributed to positioning Tivat among European cities that promote walking and healthy lifestyles.
The successful implementation of the week-long program in Tivat demonstrated how joint action by local self-government, educational institutions, and citizens of all generations builds high awareness of environmental preservation. Tivat continues to implement green initiatives and develop sustainable infrastructure, remaining an example of a municipality that actively lives European values and creates a higher quality living space for all its citizens.
