On the occasion of European Urban Mobility Week, a traditional recreational bicycle race was held on the streets of Bar on September 22. The event gathered several hundred citizens and was organized by the Municipality of Bar within the framework of the European project CITYMOVE, in cooperation with Europe House Bar and the “Municipalities for EU” project.
The event was officially opened by the Vice President of the Municipality of Bar, Tanja Spičanović, who, in direct conversation with the participants—predominantly younger residents—emphasized that activities like this represent the finest side of local government work.
She stated that, beyond all administrative and project processes, everything being done is in the interest of the citizens, especially the youth, highlighting that Bar demonstrated its beautiful and active side together today.
The joint ride sent a message about the importance of sustainable mobility, active transport, and healthy lifestyles in urban environments, as well as the necessity of changing daily habits to preserve the environment. With its wide boulevards and more than 270 sunny days a year, Bar represents an ideal city for an active lifestyle and healthy modes of transport.
Immediately prior to the start of the ride, a training session was organized for children aged 5 to 12. Before the start, interested participants filled out entry forms for a raffle, in which the Municipality of Bar provided and awarded 23 bicycles and 23 sets of protective cycling equipment.
Following the conclusion of the race and a random drawing of winners, the prizes were presented by Vice President of the Municipality Tanja Spičanović, Secretary of the Secretariat for Local Economic Development Nikola Papić, Ivan Pekić from the Secretariat for Communal Affairs and Traffic, and the Head of the EU Project Management Department of the Municipality of Bar, Ana Živanović.
Through this massive and successfully organized event, Bar has once again confirmed its commitment to creating a safer, greener, and healthier urban environment for all its citizens.
