Music is a universal language that connects people, cultures and generations, and it was precisely through art that students of Music School Tivat conveyed messages of unity, diversity and the European spirit.
As part of the Europe Day celebration, the ceremonial concert “A Musical Promenade Through Europe” was organized at the Public Institution Music School Tivat, gathering representatives of institutions, the international community, the education sector and the local community.
The participants were addressed by the President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Montenegro Daniel Putík, and the Principal of Music School Tivat, Sanja Popović.

The President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, spoke about the importance of European values, culture and investing in younger generations.
“Music and art have the power to connect different cultures and generations, creating space for cooperation, understanding and togetherness. Tivat is precisely an example of such a community – a multinational town, a city of openness and European values that we live every day through investments in culture, education and young people. The Municipality of Tivat will remain committed to creating an environment in which young people will have the opportunity to develop their talents, exchange experiences and build the European future of our city and country,” said the President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović.
Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Montenegro Daniel Putík emphasized the importance of culture and education in connecting European communities and strengthening mutual understanding.
“I believe much more can be done to strengthen our ties at the people to people level. Young people are at the heart of the European project. The EU offers them opportunities to learn, travel, connect and create. The young people of Montenegro deserve these opportunities. Their openness, curiosity and willingness to engage across borders strengthen the sense of a shared European family to which Montenegro belongs”, said Putik.

The Principal of Music School Tivat, Sanja Popović, highlighted the importance of art and music in the development of young people and in promoting the values of unity and cooperation.
“Music has always been the first and most perfect common language of Europe. It knows no borders, requires no translators, and connects people’s hearts directly. Our students, who will perform today, are the best ambassadors of that universal language. Through their work, talent, and achievements at national and international competitions, they have long since become part of the great European family of artists,” said Popović.

The programme opened with performances of the national anthem of Montenegro and the anthem of the European Union “Ode to Joy” performed by the orchestra and choir of Music School Tivat.
The audience had the opportunity to enjoy performances by talented students through violin, piano, clarinet and saxophone compositions, as well as a recital of an excerpt from Ivo Andrić’s novel The Bridge on the Drina.
Prior to the concert programme, a reception of the delegation was organized at the Municipality of Tivat, during which the EU-funded Apollo project was presented. As part of the project, a photovoltaic power plant was installed on the Municipality building, while the procurement of an electric minibus is also planned.

The celebration of Europe Day in Tivat is part of the national programme taking place across Montenegro throughout May, aimed at bringing European values closer to citizens and highlighting the country’s European perspective.
Europe Day celebrations are organized by the EU-funded projects Europe House, EU4ME and Municipalities4EU in cooperation with municipalities across Montenegro.
